Chadsmoor Medical Practice is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the practice as a medical administrator (receptionist). As a member of frontline staff, you will be the first point of contact for our service users and visitors. You will need to be non-judgmental with excellent communication and listening skills. You must be able to deal objectively and professionally in a calm and approachable manner when liaising with service users, staff, healthcare professionals, and outside agencies.

Prioritising a busy workload, being a good team player, and possessing the ability to deal with a wide range of clerical and administration duties in a busy environment is also required. This post will require you to be flexible for the business needs, providing relief cover for the holidays or sickness leave of reception colleagues. Hours to be worked are between 7.45am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with the addition of 7am and 8pm finishes some evenings and weekend work with flu and covid clinic (seasonal).

Main duties of the job:

  • To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Reception area, ensuring Reception duties are completed efficiently and adhere to the guidelines that are laid down by doctors and management.
  • To ensure that patients are received, assisted, and directed appropriately in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
  • Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

About us:

We are a welcoming, friendly team based in Cannock with approx. 5000 patients registered. Our clinical team consists of 3 GP Partners, 4 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistant/Phlebotomists. We have 2 Practice Managers who work across all of our Practices, and 12 Medical Administrators. We are also a training Practice. All of our employees are hard-working and we all strive to deliver excellent patient care at all times.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience of working in a public reception environment.
  • Previous Customer Service experience of dealing with the general public face to face and via telephone.
  • IT Literate, previous experience of Microsoft Office software.

Experience:

  • Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, and common sense, to work without direct supervision and determine own workload priorities with the ability to work as part of an integrated, multi-skilled team.
  • Pleasant and articulate with the ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Reliable and flexible, willing to undertake a variety of duties.
