Family Paralegal – immediate start available. CH-R Family Solicitors is a boutique firm specialising in family law. Our Partners have over 50 years of combined experience and have each previously worked at leading London firms. We pride ourselves in providing clear, considered and holistic advice while remaining empathetic to our clients’ personal circumstances. We specialise in acting for high net-worth individuals, many of whom are based in London and across the Home Counties, as well as internationally. We are experts in all areas of family law, including divorce and finances, children, and nuptial agreements, often acting in relation to high profile and complex cases.

We are seeking a self-motivated, hard-working and organised paralegal to join our busy and growing firm. You must be available to work from our Newbury office and ideally would have previous legal experience and be able to work full-time (flexible working requests will be considered).

Job Purpose: To provide a high-quality paralegal and administrative service to fee earners.

Working hours: Full-time preferred (flexible working requests will be considered). Office hours are Monday – Friday 9am to 5.30pm.

Remuneration: We offer a competitive salary depending on experience plus benefits.

Job prospects: There are opportunities to become a trainee solicitor and join the firm on qualification as a solicitor, for suitable candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing and administering divorce and financial proceedings, making applications, lodging documents and communicating via the online Court portal.
  • Preparation of legal documents and/or correspondence as required.
  • Agreeing, creating and lodging court bundles strictly in accordance with the Court requirements.
  • Assisting fee-earners with fee earning tasks as required, including reviewing and collating disclosure, conducting online searches and preparing exhibits.
  • Liaising with clients, other law firms, intermediaries and the Court in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
  • Regularly and accurately maintaining and updating (mainly online) filing as and when required.
  • Assisting fee-earners with administrative, marketing and/or business developments tasks as required.
  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of the firm’s clients and contacts at all times.

Skills/Experience:

  • Previous paralegal experience, particularly within family law, or to have completed the SQE1 and SQE2.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, client discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, be flexible as required and take ownership of tasks.
  • Ability to stay calm and work well under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills, with high regard for deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Packages including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and willingness to learn how to use the firm’s document management and other systems.
  • Strong drafting skills and able to communicate effectively and courteously both internally and externally.
  • A team player, with a “can do” attitude and the ability to quickly build relationships with a wide range of people.
