POSITION: Assignment Editor
*This position is based in Beijing and only open to foreign passport holders*
Full time, 12-month renewable contract
ABOUT THE JOB
As an Assignment Editor, you will be expected to display a high level of editorial judgment, flawless “on demand” writing, and a knack for creating TV headlines. Based on a strong grasp of international affairs, you will identify, develop, edit and execute current affairs news packages, ensuring that they are error-free, engaging and world-class.
You will be expected to possess a clear understanding of TV and digital news production including operational techniques. You will also dispatch correspondents and camera crews to the scene of global news events, working on story development and helping with field production as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
– Communicating with directors, planning and desk editors
– Handling logistics for correspondents, including travel, accreditation and visas
– Tracking correspondents’ assignments, shooting and delivery schedules
– Developing a close familiarity with issues and personalities influencing news events
– Planning short- and long-term global news coverage
– Handling multiple breaking news stories in a fast-paced network newsroom environment
ABOUT YOU
– Bachelor\’s degree or above, preferably in mass communication or journalism
– At least 3 years of network newsgathering and planning experience
– Strong organizational skills
– Excellent oral and written English language communication skills
– A keen interest in China, the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East
– Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-cultural environment
– Available to work weekends and evenings
