About the Role
The Assistant Director is responsible for the precise and accurate timing of live and pre-recorded studio and outside broadcast programmes and manual operation of the video playout system.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of all timed elements of live and pre-recorded programmes.
- Manual play out pre-recorded video for live and taped programming, as well as count down to the end of packages, SOTs, as-lives, etc.
- Assist the Line Producer with show timing and inform Line Producers periodically as to the timing status of live programming.
- Update newsroom computer system with show-specific notes and out times.
- Count down anchor to ensure programmes get off-air on time.
- Communicate "STRAP" times, key points, locators etc with GFX playout personnel.
- Manage and update commercial breaks & promos within ENPS rundown.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or related experience in Television Broadcasting.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge and interest in news and current events.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Person specification
To be successful in this role you must be fluent in English - written and oral. You will have extensive experience as an Assistant Director and be used to the pressure of working in a live, preferably news, environment. You will be a team player, understanding the CGTN vision and strategic goals and how gallery operations can contribute to making these happen.
Pay range and compensation package
The salary range for this position is depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
