About the role
The Studio Director is responsible for leading live and recorded news broadcasts from the control room, ensuring seamless execution from start to finish. This role calls shots during live transmissions, coordinates camera operators, presenters, audio, graphics, and technical teams, and ensures scripts and rundowns are followed precisely while adapting quickly to breaking news.
Working closely with Producers and Editorial teams, the Studio Director translates the newsroom vision into compelling on-air output, maintaining high production standards under tight deadlines. Strong leadership, decisive communication, technical expertise in multi-camera studio environments, and the ability to perform calmly under pressure are essential. Experience in live news broadcasting and a deep understanding of timing, pacing, compliance, and broadcast protocols are required.
Job objectives:
- Supervise and direct the live on-air multi-camera output for business and news programmes and our current affairs show - The Agenda
- Demonstrable knowledge of Mosart automation as well as non-automated studios
- Coordinate the identification, development and deployment of workflow opportunities and improvements.
- Anticipate, react to, and resolve technical and operational issues.
- Assist in training and mentoring staff and freelancers, and work on any ongoing improvement and training issues.
- Be prepared to work varied shift hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity of working within a culturally and ethnically diverse staff.
- Reporting and documenting of errors and analysis of causes
- Good critical-thinking skills and exemplary decision-making and judgment abilities.
- Requires active listening and learning ability, excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask and manage time and solve problems.

- Respond positively and strive to work in capacities other than specified as gallery production
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Network Television production.
- Must have considerable industry work experience and extensive industry knowledge and technical expertise related to TV production.
