Description
We are seeking a Web Developer proficient in word press to host our own websites.
This opportunity is for an experienced Web Developer to take ownership of a growing portfolio of company websites while helping shape CGT’s future digital and application development capabilities.
This individual will be responsible for the development, management, hosting, security, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of all company websites.
They will have strong expertise in Word Press, front-end and back-end development, server environments, website security, integrations, SEO, and web accessibility, including AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Website Development & Management
- Take ownership of the development and technical management of multiple company websites.
- Build and maintain responsive websites and web features from concept through development, testing, launch, and ongoing support.
- Develop and manage Word Press websites, themes, plugins, custom blocks, and Divi-based websites.
- Troubleshoot and resolve website functionality, performance, compatibility, and technical issues.
- Manage Word Press updates, upgrades, backups, migrations, deployments, permissions, and configurations.
- Work closely with the Marketing/Creative team to translate designs and creative concepts into functional websites.
- Manage website updates, migrations, deployments, and ongoing improvements.
- Maintain staging environments and support safe deployment workflows.
- Monitor website uptime, forms, and third-party integrations.
- Implement responsive front-end updates and page enhancements.
- Optimize website caching, CDN configuration, and overall performance.
- Hosting, Security & Infrastructure
- Work with IT to support website hosting, domains, DNS, SSL, databases, backups, and server environments.
- Assist with website migrations, hosting changes, and deployments.
- Maintain website security and address Word Press, plugin, and other web vulnerabilities.
- Integrations & Development
- Develop and maintain integrations with APIs, CRM/ERP systems, forms, marketing platforms, and other third-party services.
- Develop custom functionality and automation when required.
- Support the development of future web applications and digital tools.
- SEO, Performance & Accessibility
- Apply technical SEO, performance, and accessibility best practices to website development.
- Support optimization of site structure, redirects, metadata, schema, page speed, and Core Web Vitals.
- Develop websites in accordance with AODA and WCAG accessibility requirements.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional web development experience, with strong hands-on Word Press experience.
- Strong experience with PHP, Java Script, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience with CDNs and advanced performance optimization.
- Experience managing multiple Word Press websites.
- Experience migrating websites from external agencies to in-house management.
- Experience with Divi, custom Word Press themes, plugins, and custom blocks.
- Experience with APIs, third-party integrations, and databases.
- Working knowledge of website hosting, DNS, SSL, backups, and deployments.
- Working knowledge of website security and vulnerability management.
- Understanding of technical SEO, website performance, AODA, and WCAG.
- Experience with Git or other version-control systems.
- Understanding of web design principles and ability to work with and creative teams.
- Ability to use AI-assisted coding and development tools to improve development efficiency, generate and review code, troubleshoot issues, and automate repetitive tasks.
- Ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated code for quality, security, performance, and accessibility.
Preferred Experience
- AWS or other cloud hosting environments.
- Experience developing mobile and web applications, developing custom Word Press themes and plugins, web applications beyond traditional Word Press websites.
- React, Vue, Angular, or other modern Java Script frameworks.
- CI/CD and automated deployment.

Working Environment

- Standard work week, but additionally may work evening, weekends, and additional hours to accommodate activities and priorities. This position is not eligible for Overtime pay.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Generally requires low physical demands.
