What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, you'll take a leading role in delivering contaminated land and ground investigation projects from inception through to completion. You'll combine strong technical expertise with effective project management, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest professional standards. You will be working within a supportive and collaborative team. Along the way, you’ll build exposure to a wide range of geological settings and ground hazards, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. This role offers a mixture of office, home, and site-based work. Your office will be one of our three based in the South-East of England.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the planning, coordination and delivery of Phase 1 Desk Studies, intrusive site investigations and contaminated land assessments.
  • Supporting the management team in designing, managing and supervising geo-environmental site investigations, ensuring technical quality, programme and budget requirements are achieved.
  • Reviewing conceptual site models (CSMs), developing investigation strategies and providing technically robust recommendations for further investigation or remediation.
  • Managing environmental sampling programmes, including soil, groundwater, surface water and ground gas investigations, while ensuring compliance with industry best practice and chain of custody procedures.
  • Reviewing laboratory schedules, interpreting analytical data and ensuring outputs meet project objectives and relevant technical standards.
  • Producing and technically reviewing factual and interpretative geo-environmental reports, ensuring they are accurate, proportionate and suitable for client and regulatory submission.
  • Applying current environmental legislation, Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) guidance, British Standards and other relevant technical guidance to deliver practical, risk-based solutions.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and commercial performance, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, regulators, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams, building strong working relationships and providing trusted technical advice.
  • Mentoring and supporting Graduate and Geo-Environmental Engineers through site supervision, technical review, coaching and day-to-day guidance to aid their professional development.
  • Reviewing and approving technical work completed by junior team members, maintaining the highest standards of quality and consistency across all project deliverables.
  • Promoting a positive SHEQ culture by ensuring compliance with company procedures, risk assessments, RAMS and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Supporting business development activities through proposal preparation, fee estimates, client meetings and identifying opportunities for repeat and new business.

Who We’re Looking For

Enthusiastic, Senior Geo-Environmental Engineers who:

  • Have a relevant degree or masters in geology, environmental science, geo-environmental engineering or similar.
  • 4+ years experience in geo-environmental or site investigation works.
  • Experience in supervising and managing complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Thrive on working outdoors, independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe working and SHEQ Culture.
  • Have a full UK driving licence and are happy to travel/stay away as needed.
  • Experience and understanding of the relevant Geo-Environmental legislation and regulations.

You may also have:

  • CSCS Card, First Aid at Work, SSSTS/SMSTS, EUSR HSG47 Cat 1&2.
  • The desire to work towards a relevant chartership and accreditation in the industry.
