This role is based on-site at our new office in Reading and requires five days per week in the office. All applicants must be UK nationals and either hold or be willing to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) to Security Check (SC) level as a minimum.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a Test Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting and testing a secure, enterprise-grade web-based application used within a mission-critical environment. This is a hands-on role that blends technical testing with team leadership responsibilities. You will be accountable for logging and managing incidents, ensuring service level agreements are met, and maintaining application quality through structured test processes.
You\’ll be responsible for authoring detailed test scripts to validate new releases, running diagnostic SQL scripts, and supporting troubleshooting activities. Your proactive approach will help ensure smooth application operation and rapid resolution of user-reported issues. Working directly with stakeholders, you will track the progress of incidents, provide updates, and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner in line with agreed KPIs.
Additionally, you will manage and mentor a small team of support and test engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Key responsibilities include:
• Logging and managing customer-reported incidents and tracking them to resolution
• Writing and executing test scripts for new application versions
• Creating and running SQL diagnostic scripts to assist with troubleshooting
• Monitoring support KPIs and driving incident resolution
• Leading and mentoring a small team of support/test engineers
• Working five days a week onsite in our Reading office in a secure environment
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong background in application support and software testing, ideally gained within a secure or highly regulated environment. Experience in testing web-based systems, writing detailed test cases, and running SQL diagnostic queries is key. You’ll need to be able to assess and resolve incidents independently and communicate progress effectively to stakeholders.
We are looking for someone with leadership potential — you may already have experience managing small teams or have supported/mentored junior colleagues. This role will require you to coordinate team efforts and take ownership of testing activities and support outcomes. A proactive attitude, confidence in decision-making, and a structured approach will help you thrive.
Candidates must be UK nationals and either already hold SC clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo vetting. CGI will provide training to support any development areas to help you grow in this role and beyond.
