At CGI, you’ll play a leading role in shaping a major business and digital transformation programme that will strengthen how critical public services operate. As a Senior Solution Architect, you’ll take ownership of end-to-end architecture for a modern ERP implementation, helping replace legacy finance, HR and procurement systems while improving resilience, data quality, financial control and regulatory compliance. You’ll have the scope to challenge thinking, influence strategic technology decisions and turn complex requirements into solutions that deliver lasting value. Working with programme leaders, suppliers and multidisciplinary experts, you’ll be supported by a collaborative CGI community while bringing your creativity and architectural expertise to decisions that will shape both the programme and the client’s wider digital future.
Your future duties and responsibilities: In this role, you will take ownership of defining and assuring the end-to-end solution architecture for a major ERP transformation programme, working from concept through design, delivery and handover. You’ll ensure solutions are fit for purpose, aligned with business requirements and architectural principles, and designed to meet critical requirements across security, resilience, performance, scalability and supportability.
- Lead & Shape – Define and assure end-to-end solution architecture for the ERP implementation across application, integration, data, infrastructure and security domains.
- Review & Assure – Critically assess supplier HLDs, LLDs, functional designs and non-functional designs, ensuring solutions meet agreed requirements and standards.
- Govern & Guide – Support design authorities, design gate reviews, stage gates and readiness assessments, maintaining clear architecture decisions and documentation.
- Challenge & Improve – Provide evidence-based challenge to suppliers and identify opportunities to strengthen solution quality, security and resilience.
- Advise & Influence – Provide clear architectural recommendations to programme leadership, stakeholders and assurance groups.
- Assess & Decide – Undertake options analysis, feasibility assessments and solution evaluation, balancing benefits, costs, risks and technical constraints.
- Manage & Mitigate – Identify architectural risks and issues early and develop appropriate mitigation approaches.
- Collaborate & Deliver – Work across multidisciplinary teams and with third-party partners to translate business needs into practical, sustainable solutions.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role: You’ll be an experienced Solution, Technical or Enterprise Architect with a strong record of delivering complex digital transformation and providing independent architectural assurance. You’ll combine broad technical knowledge with strong stakeholder and supplier management skills, taking ownership of architectural decisions while working collaboratively through ambiguity to achieve successful outcomes.
- Significant experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or Enterprise Architect within a complex organisation.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale digital transformation, ideally including ERP programmes.
- Strong experience defining and assuring end-to-end solution architectures across multiple technology domains.
- Strong knowledge across application, integration, data, infrastructure and security architecture.
- Experience translating business requirements into solution designs and technology roadmaps.
- Proven ability to review and assure supplier HLDs, LLDs, functional and non-functional designs.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers, systems integrators and software vendors, including providing independent supplier assurance.
- Strong understanding of Non-Functional Requirements, including security, availability, scalability, resilience, performance, disaster recovery and supportability.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture patterns and services, particularly AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Experience operating within formal architecture governance, including design authorities or design review boards.
- Strong technical leadership, stakeholder management, documentation and decision-logging capabilities.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate architectural risks and make sound decisions where information remains incomplete.
- Experience within public-sector or regulated environments.
- Awareness of secure-by-design principles and the ability to critically assess architecture from a security perspective.
- Familiarity with NCSC guidance, public-sector security frameworks, data governance or information management frameworks would be advantageous.
