At CGI, you'll help deliver a critical Azure-based platform that keeps road users, transport providers and public services informed with accurate, timely and reliable road network information. Working on a service that underpins essential decision-making, you'll play a key role in improving platform resilience, security and automation while helping accelerate the delivery of data to downstream consumers. You'll collaborate with talented multidisciplinary teams, contribute innovative ideas and take ownership of meaningful technical challenges, supported by an environment that invests in your growth and empowers you to make a lasting impact.

Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position and you can be based anywhere in the UK. There might be some very occasional expensed travel to client/CGI offices as project demand but we try to keep this to a minimum.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain and evolve a business-critical Azure platform that collects, processes and distributes road network information from multiple data sources.
  • Work closely with data engineers, API developers and testers to ensure the platform remains secure, resilient and highly available while supporting continuous improvements to automation, infrastructure and operational efficiency.
  • Take ownership of key platform capabilities, contribute to infrastructure modernisation and help reduce data processing latency through automation and continuous improvement.
  • Influence technical decisions, improve engineering practices and deliver high-quality solutions that create real value for our clients.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain & Optimise Azure infrastructure across multiple subscriptions.
  • Develop & Enhance Infrastructure as Code solutions using Bicep.
  • Build & Automate Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
  • Support & Improve a secure hub-and-spoke Azure networking architecture.
  • Manage & Maintain Azure App Services and core platform services.
  • Collaborate & Enable data engineering teams supporting Azure Data Factory and Databricks environments.
  • Develop & Automate operational tooling using Bash, Python and, where appropriate, PowerShell.
  • Monitor & Improve platform reliability, security and operational performance.
  • Troubleshoot & Resolve platform issues while supporting development and QA teams.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives that enhance platform capability and reduce data processing latency.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring strong Azure platform engineering experience with a passion for automation, infrastructure as code and operational excellence. You'll be comfortable working within collaborative Agile teams and have the technical expertise to support secure, scalable cloud platforms while continually identifying opportunities for improvement.

Essential qualifications:

  • Strong experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
  • Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code using Bicep (Terraform experience is advantageous).
  • Experience designing and maintaining Azure networking, including hub-and-spoke architectures.
  • Good knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Experience supporting Azure App Services and cloud platform services.
  • Experience working with Azure Data Factory; exposure to Databricks is desirable.
  • Strong scripting skills using Bash and Python; PowerShell experience is beneficial.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical teams.

How to prepare for a job interview at CGI

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
