As a Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you will build resilient, scalable platforms that enable innovation and operational excellence. The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work, build, and operate bespoke, technically complex, mission-critical systems which help our clients keep us all safe and secure. We bring innovation to our clients using proven and emerging technologies, agile delivery processes and our deep expertise across the breadth of space, defence, intelligence, aerospace and maritime, all underpinned by our end-to-end cyber capability. We work collaboratively with global technology companies, cutting edge SMEs and academia to deliver the optimal solution for each client.
Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will be based on site near Gloucester 5 days a week.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy and maintain secure Linux-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and scalability across complex environments.
- Take ownership of infrastructure automation, containerised platforms and system optimisation, supporting both project delivery and operational excellence.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to building resilient systems, improving deployment pipelines and driving continuous improvement.
- Bring innovative thinking to infrastructure challenges while being supported by a collaborative and expert-led environment.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Strong experience managing Linux infrastructure within enterprise or secure environments, with a focus on automation, scalability and reliability.
- Solid understanding of containerisation and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat or Rocky Linux.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g. Python, Bash, Ansible).
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices.
- Experience managing storage solutions and backup/recovery processes.
- Strong troubleshooting and system optimisation skills.
- Familiarity with data tools such as NiFi (desirable).
- Experience working in secure or regulated environments (advantageous).
