At CGI, you’ll play a key role in strengthening the digital backbone of mission-critical defence programmes. As an Infrastructure Support Engineer, you will help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the platforms that keep our clients’ operations moving. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies, apply your expertise to solve complex challenges, and contribute to solutions that make a real impact. Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Deliver hands-on support for critical infrastructure used across a major defence programme, ensuring systems remain stable, secure, and resilient.
- Work closely with senior engineers, contributing to improvements, resolving incidents, and shaping the evolution of the platform.
- Maintain core infrastructure technologies, troubleshoot complex issues, and support an on-call rota to ensure business-critical services are available around the clock.
Key responsibilities:
- Support & Troubleshoot: Provide technical support across VMware Cloud Foundation, Tanzu, VxRail, Data Domain, and key management systems.
- Secure & Manage: Support privileged access and identity systems, including BeyondTrust and KeyCloak.
- Administer & Maintain: Manage Windows Server environments, Hyper-V, and routine system upkeep.
- Monitor & Improve: Track performance, contribute to continuity planning, and enhance infrastructure resilience.
- Collaborate & Document: Work with senior engineers and keep documentation current and comprehensive.
- Respond & Resolve: Participate in an on-call rota to address critical incidents effectively.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Hands-on experience in infrastructure or support engineering, ideally within a defence environment.
- A solid foundation across core infrastructure technologies, strong communication skills, and a willingness to develop your expertise further through training and certification.
Essential qualifications:
- Experience working in Defence environments.
- Proven background in infrastructure or support engineering.
- Knowledge of VMware, Microsoft, or security technologies (certifications or willingness to work toward them).
- Familiarity with hyper-converged infrastructure.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Desired:
- Awareness of cross-domain tools (e.g., Tiger Traps, Garrison, OpsWat, NiFi).
- Exposure to DevOps technologies (GitLab, Harbor, FluxCD, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with Elastic for monitoring and analytics.
