Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position, requiring 2–3 days per week onsite in Belfast.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

In this role, you will lead the architecture and delivery of enterprise-wide integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, helping clients modernise complex legacy environments while ensuring secure, resilient, and high-performing connectivity across critical business systems. You'll work closely with architects, engineers, delivery teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to define integration strategies, establish architectural standards, and deliver solutions that support long-term business transformation.

You'll take ownership of the end-to-end integration architecture, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise principles. You'll provide technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, driving best practice, mentoring teams, resolving complex integration challenges, and ensuring integrations remain reliable, observable, and fit for future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead end-to-end enterprise integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
• Design and deliver API-led, event-driven and messaging-based integration architectures.
• Translate business requirements into robust technical designs, API specifications and interface contracts.
• Establish integration standards, architecture principles and API lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, business stakeholders and third-party technology partners.
• Modernise legacy integration estates while maintaining compatibility with existing consumers.
• Optimise security, resilience, performance, monitoring and operational traceability across integration services.
• Support testing, release management and deployment across controlled environments.
• Troubleshoot complex integration, performance and data processing issues.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and platform capabilities to support continuous improvement.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

To succeed in this role, you'll bring extensive experience designing enterprise integration architectures using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform within complex, large-scale environments. You'll combine strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable integration solutions. Experience modernising legacy estates, governing integration standards, and working within Agile delivery environments will enable you to make an immediate impact.

You should have:

• Extensive experience in integration architecture, systems design or integration engineering.
• Strong hands-on expertise with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including Mule 4, CloudHub 2.0, API Manager and Anypoint Exchange.
• Proven experience designing REST/JSON, SOAP/XML and API-led integration architectures.
• Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, messaging, event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Experience defining API specifications, interface contracts, data mappings and architecture documentation.
• Knowledge of integration security including OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS, WS-Security, certificate and secrets management.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices and integration testing strategies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working with third-party vendors and enterprise technology partners.

Desirable:

• Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Platform Integration Architect certification.
• Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Platform Architect certification.
• Experience integrating Salesforce through MuleSoft.
• Kafka, RabbitMQ or Anypoint MQ.
• Experience integrating AWS-hosted services and cloud platforms.
• Worked within regulated or security-sensitive environments.
