CGi, LLC is seeking a strategic, market-focused product leader to serve as Vice President of Product Development & Strategy. This position will lead the strategy, development, positioning, and evolution of a growing portfolio of five learning, data and technology-enabled solutions, including a flagship product with greater than 60% market share in its primary market. The successful candidate will build upon this strong foundation by scaling and evolving existing products while identifying opportunities for new product development, commercialization, and expansion into new markets and customer segments.
The VP of Product Development & Strategy will – in collaboration with Sales and Business Development - translate business objectives, market opportunities, customer needs, competitive intelligence, and product performance into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and investment priorities. The position will lead product strategy, portfolio management, and commercialization efforts across the organization's learning products while partnering with executive, technical, marketing, sales, and operational teams to drive product success, innovation, and sustainable growth. This individual will also provide leadership to product-related staff and resources and will be responsible for building and developing product management capabilities as the organization’s portfolio and business needs evolve.
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with strong experience in scaling SaaS platforms or other commercial technology products. Experience with learning technology, digital learning, LMS, EdTech, or related technology-enabled learning products is required. Understanding of the LMS market is strongly preferred. This individual will bring demonstrated experience developing, launching, commercializing, and scaling digital products and balancing customer needs, market opportunities, business objectives, and technical feasibility to drive measurable business outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership: Develop and lead the strategy, roadmap, and operation of the organization's portfolio of learning products and technology-enabled solutions, establishing product priorities and roadmaps that balance customer needs, market opportunities, business value, competitive requirements, technical feasibility, and development capacity while guiding feature enhancements and new product innovation.
- Identify, evaluate, commercialize, and manage products throughout their lifecycle—from discovery and development through launch, growth, and optimization—while partnering with marketing, sales, finance, and executive leadership on product positioning, pricing, packaging, commercialization, and go-to-market strategy.
- Market, Customer & Commercial Strategy: Monitor market trends, customer needs, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation.
- Serve as a product subject matter expert for strategic customer, sales, and partnership opportunities as needed.
- Establish processes for gathering and synthesizing customer, user, prospect, and stakeholder insights and translating them into product strategy and roadmap priorities.
- Product Leadership & Cross-Functional Execution: Serve as the senior product leader for major initiatives, aligning executive, technical, operational, marketing, sales, and client-facing teams while owning product goals, priorities, success criteria, and expected business outcomes.
- Establish effective product governance and communicate product decisions, priorities, tradeoffs, and recommendations to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Lead, manage, and develop product-related staff and resources, while building product management capabilities and processes as the organization’s portfolio and business needs evolve.
- Partner with technical and project leadership to translate product vision into actionable development priorities while maintaining scope discipline.
- Product Performance & Growth: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product adoption, engagement, customer satisfaction, retention, utilization, revenue, and other business outcomes.
- Use product performance data, customer feedback, and market intelligence to evaluate results and recommend product improvements, investments, and strategic adjustments.
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, product management, technology, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in product management, product strategy, or digital product leadership, including experience at a senior leadership level.
- Knowledge of the current LMS market, including competitors and their offerings, features, market segments, etc.
- Demonstrated executive product leadership experience with SaaS-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) or other commercial learning technology platforms.
- Experience developing and executing enterprise product strategies and roadmaps while leading SaaS learning products from discovery through commercialization and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing professional staff, including setting priorities, providing coaching and performance feedback, and building high-performing teams.
- Experience partnering with software development teams and leading complex, cross-functional product initiatives.
- Strong business and commercial acumen, with demonstrated experience connecting product strategy to customer value, commercialization, revenue growth, and measurable business outcomes.
- Excellent executive communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
- Preferred: Experience managing multi-product portfolios and scaling product organizations within education technology, professional education, credentialing, workforce development, or association markets.
- Experience leading new product development and commercialization from market validation through launch and growth.
- Experience managing a portfolio of related products and/or building product management capabilities and teams.
- Experience in professional education, continuing education, credentialing, workforce development, or association markets.
- Experience working within Agile or other iterative software development environments.
- Understanding of emerging technologies and their potential application to digital products, including artificial intelligence.
- Strategic, customer-focused product leadership with strong product judgment and an execution mindset.
- Ability to balance innovation, business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility.
- Executive presence and the ability to influence, communicate, and build alignment across diverse stakeholders.
