We are looking for an architect with a background in Communications or Space Technology to support ground segment software and network solutions developed with our SatCom customers. This hybrid role is based in Leatherhead, Reading, London, Bristol or Leicester, with occasional short trips to Europe for customer meetings. The position requires holding UK Security Clearance or being eligible for it.
Responsibilities
- Define the solution and system architecture, including models, decisions, validation, evolution and delivery support.
- Work with the customer and any subcontractors to identify, trade‑off and design the overall architecture.
- Assist with overall strategy and business‑chase activities, working with multiple stakeholders.
- Create high‑level artefacts to be delivered to the customer.
- Respond to RFPs and support new client acquisition.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of recent Satellite or Wireless communications software or network architecture experience.
- Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or similar degree.
- Experience in designing high‑level architectures using standardised approaches and tools, requirements management and technical specifications.
- Experience of the development and testing lifecycle.
- Experience of developing to stringent standards (Space, Defence standards, etc.).
- Ability to lead others in technical work.
- Highly desirable: experience in RF communications, OSS/BSS, satellite modem/terminal software, or VSAT platforms.
- Highly desirable: good understanding of cyber‑security practices.
- Highly desirable: experience with reference models and Space Standards.
- Highly desirable: experience with Agile and DevOps approaches.
