As a Senior Infrastructure Consultant, you'll take ownership of complex technical implementations, using your Windows, VMware and automation expertise to turn project requirements into reliable, high-quality outcomes.

You'll have the freedom to identify smarter ways of working, improve services and help shape technical delivery, while being supported by an experienced community of infrastructure specialists.

From delivering large-scale changes to mentoring colleagues and transitioning solutions into operational support, you'll combine hands‑on expertise, collaboration and creative problem‑solving to make a tangible difference for our clients.

In this role, you will take ownership of delivering and transitioning Windows infrastructure solutions across CGI and third‑party environments.

You'll work across complex, business-critical projects, implementing infrastructure changes, producing detailed technical documentation and ensuring solutions are delivered effectively before being transitioned smoothly into operational support.

You'll work autonomously while collaborating with customers, suppliers, technical teams and other specialists to achieve successful outcomes.

You'll also have opportunities to lead others, mentor colleagues and share your expertise, while being supported by CGI's wider technical community.

Bringing new ideas to automation and continuous improvement will be encouraged as you help make infrastructure delivery more efficient, consistent and resilient.

  • Deliver & Implement - Deploy infrastructure and technical solutions in line with project requirements, timescales and quality expectations.
  • Automate & Improve - Use Power Shell and other automation technologies to improve efficiency, consistency and repeatability.
  • Design & Document - Develop and maintain Low Level Designs, technical documentation and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Lead & Mentor - Provide technical leadership, knowledge transfer and mentoring to colleagues and support teams.
  • Manage & Change - Deliver controlled infrastructure changes using established processes and best practices.
  • Transition & Support - Ensure completed solutions are effectively documented and handed over into operational support.
  • Optimise & Enhance - Contribute to Continuous Service Improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve technical and operational processes.
  • Collaborate & Deliver - Work with clients, suppliers, third parties and internal specialists to resolve challenges and achieve project outcomes.
  • Plan & Coordinate - Contribute to project planning, workflow management and cost estimation.
  • Maintain & Protect - Support activities including backup administration, Windows Server installation, patching and planned out-of-hours changes.
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualisation technologies.
  • Strong experience working with Windows Server operating systems, including versions from Windows Server 2008 onwards.
  • Strong Power Shell scripting and automation expertise.
  • Proven experience delivering infrastructure implementations and technical projects within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure best practices, technical documentation and operational support processes.
  • Ability to produce and maintain Low Level Designs and Disaster Recovery documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple technical priorities and work autonomously.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Microsoft Azure experience would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies such as Ansible would be beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and undertake planned out-of-hours activities where required.

You'll bring strong hands‑on Windows infrastructure experience gained within enterprise environments, combined with proven technical project delivery skills.

You should be comfortable taking ownership of complex activities, managing competing priorities and working independently while collaborating with and supporting others.

Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational capabilities will be important to your success.
