At CGI, we are driving innovation in the Space, Defence and Intelligence sector. As a Cyber Engineer within our cyber and protective monitoring capability, you will modernise complex data platforms, automate processes and strengthen security operations. Working onsite in Basingstoke, you will grow expertise in SIEM technologies and DevOps practices, shaping robust, scalable solutions that make a tangible difference. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. The position is onsite full‑time.
Responsibilities
- Modernise and transform data collection, processing and storage using distributed systems (Kafka, Kubernetes, Zookeeper).
- Design, build and improve data ingestion and processing pipelines in a DevOps environment to ensure robust, automated, scalable security systems.
- Develop and deliver automated CI/CD pipelines to improve release quality and efficiency.
- Optimise and automate existing deployment and release processes.
- Collaborate and integrate with stakeholders to align development with security requirements.
- Support and enhance SIEM and protective monitoring capabilities.
- Document and maintain technical designs, installations and support processes.
Qualifications
- Solid foundation in software/cyber engineering or systems development with experience in Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Good working knowledge of RHEL and/or Windows.
- Strong communication skills, able to engage across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Familiarity with scripting (Bash, PowerShell).
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or automation tooling (Ansible, Azure DevOps).
- Aware of SIEM, protective monitoring, or cyber security concepts.
- Understanding of data engineering principles or SQL-based systems (desirable).
