We are seeking a Software Developer – High‑Performance I/O & Storage Systems to design, build, and improve services that enable efficient data access and storage across distributed environments. This role focuses on developing high‑performance backend services and APIs that integrate closely with performance‑critical applications, ensuring efficient data handling, scalability, and reliability across the full data path.

About the Team: You will join a team focused on building high‑performance data systems that support distributed computing and data‑intensive workloads. The team works across backend services, storage systems, and client integration layers to deliver scalable and efficient data access solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • I/O & Storage Systems: Design and develop high‑performance services for data access and storage. Work with storage technologies, including object storage systems. Optimise read and write paths to improve throughput and reduce latency.
  • Backend & APIs: Build and maintain APIs, including gRPC‑based services. Develop backend services supporting distributed data access.
  • Performance & Optimisation: Analyse and improve performance across the full data path. Identify and resolve bottlenecks in I/O, storage, and system interactions.
  • Platform & Architecture: Contribute to containerised deployments and distributed architectures. Participate in system design and architecture discussions.

Qualifications

  • Strong software development experience in languages such as C, C++, Go, or Python.
  • Proven experience building backend services, distributed systems, or performance‑critical components.
  • Understanding of how software interacts with storage systems, operating systems, and hardware.
  • Experience working with I/O‑intensive systems, storage APIs, or data services.
  • Experience analysing and optimising performance, including throughput and latency.
  • Experience designing and working with APIs such as gRPC.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience providing technical or project leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with object storage systems such as S3 or similar.
  • Familiarity with Linux systems programming or low‑level performance tuning.
  • Experience in high‑performance or data‑intensive environments.
