We are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable and committed secondary English Teacher to work in our Upper School (Years 9 to 11).

Hours: The role is for two days per week, with the possibility of combining the role with other responsibilities for the right candidate.

About our school: Independent Sector, 170 to 200 pupils from 4 to 16. CFS is a faith venture within a parent collaborative setting, where young people learn to consider the world and themselves in a Christ-centred way, and the next generation are actively discipled to equip them to serve society creatively and courageously. More about the role: This is an opportunity to teach motivated pupils within a school that values clarity of thought and a coherent understanding of the world shaped by a Christian worldview. You will teach GCSE English following the AQA English Language and English Literature specifications. Year 9 pupils follow a pre-GCSE English Language and Literature curriculum, studying texts such as Animal Farm and Twelfth Night, alongside a range of poetry. At GCSE, pupils study a range of set texts including The Merchant of Venice, An Inspector Calls, Pride and Prejudice, and the AQA Power and Conflict poetry anthology. You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that develop pupils’ ability to read closely, think critically, and write with clarity and precision, engaging with both literary texts and non-fiction sources, and helping pupils to consider enduring questions about truth, character, responsibility, and the nature of human experience.

This role would suit an experienced teacher seeking a part-time position or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) with relevant training and clear potential.
