The Role

We’re looking for a commercially minded Flexibility and Capacity Market Analyst to join our growing Customer Energy Solutions team. Reporting to the Head of Industrial Sales and Solutions, you will play a critical role in identifying, optimising, and monetising flexibility opportunities across our customer portfolio. This role combines energy, flexibility and capacity markets expertise with direct customer engagement, where you’ll help drive growth, innovation, and long‑term value for our I&C clients. You will work across sales and trading to deliver commercial, data‑driven solutions that create new revenue streams for both customers and the business, whilst managing operational and market risk. This is a highly dynamic role requiring both analytical precision and commercial creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify customers with on‑site generation, storage, or flexible demand that can participate in demand‑side response or Capacity Market schemes.
  • Analyse customer load profiles and generation data to assess flexibility potential and commercial viability.
  • Support customer‑facing teams in creating propositions that combine energy supply, optimisation, and flexibility services.
  • Monitor UK wholesale markets and system balancing signals to identify opportunities for customers to execute demand‑side response in wholesale markets, working with sales and trading to build up product offerings in this space.
  • Support the development of commercial frameworks and contract structures for flexibility services, including DSR participation agreements and Capacity Market submissions.
  • Support customer and asset participation in the Capacity Market, including pre‑qualification, bidding, and delivery processes.
  • Evaluate potential revenue streams from balancing services, frequency response, and ancillary service opportunities.
  • Work with the business to understand the viability of this for the Brook Green portfolio.
  • Build internal models to forecast capacity market payments, DSR performance, and wholesale market impacts to report to senior management.
  • Drive innovation by highlighting and building new revenue streams within the evolving flexibility and capacity landscape.
  • Produce detailed analysis and reporting on flexibility performance, wholesale market trends, and portfolio impacts.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of the UK electricity market, including wholesale, flexibility, and Capacity Market mechanisms.
  • Experience with demand‑side response, Capacity Markets or flexibility markets.
  • Analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in data modelling and interpreting large datasets.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, able to simplify technical analysis and deliver a strong commercial offering.
  • Proactive, self‑starting attitude with a focus on innovation and execution.
  • Hold a STEM degree (2:1 or above) or have equivalent experience in a data‑driven or analytical environment.
  • Are self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn.
  • Can balance independence with collaboration in a fast‑paced, evolving business.

Benefits

  • 25 days of annual leave in addition to bank holidays.
  • Hybrid working pattern – 3 days a week in the office, 2 days remote.
  • Discretionary commission/bonus scheme.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Life and medical insurance, and eyecare scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Family‑friendly policies.
  • Recruit and Reward scheme.
  • Access to perk box and our employee benefits and rewards platform.
