About us

CFP Energy is a leading provider of energy and environmental market solutions, helping organisations navigate the transition to a lower‑carbon economy. The firm operates across carbon markets, environmental products and energy trading, supporting clients globally with market access, risk management and structured solutions. Our carbon team operates across both voluntary and compliance markets, connecting project developers, corporates and financial institutions with high‑quality carbon credits and environmental products.

Role

CFP Energy is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Associate to join its Voluntary Carbon team within the Sales & Trading team. The role focuses on originating and executing transactions across voluntary carbon markets and quasi‑compliance markets, including CORSIA and emerging carbon tax regimes. We’re looking for someone with strong market instincts, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the confidence to build and leverage relationships to drive new business. You will have the opportunity to structure and execute carbon credit transactions while working alongside experienced sales and trading professionals in a highly collaborative, fast‑paced environment. Working closely with both sales and trading teams, you will contribute to the growth of CFP Energy’s activities across project‑based carbon credits, Article 6‑related markets, and evolving carbon compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development & Client Origination
    • Develop relationships with corporate buyers, airlines, traders, intermediaries and financial institutions active in carbon markets.
    • Manage the full commercial lifecycle, from lead generation and client engagement through to transaction execution.
    • Originate and execute transactions across voluntary carbon markets, CORSIA‑eligible credits and emerging compliance‑linked carbon markets.
    • Identify new commercial opportunities and areas of the market where CFP Energy should focus its efforts, based on evolving regulation and market demand.
  • Deal Structuring & Market Development
    • Support the structuring and negotiation of commercial transactions, including carbon credit offtake agreements, forward purchases and other structured environmental market products.
    • Work closely with internal trading teams to develop pricing strategies and execute transactions.
    • Track market developments, pricing dynamics and supply‑demand trends to support commercial strategy and client discussions.
  • Project Sourcing & Supply Relationships
    • Build relationships with project developers, carbon funds and intermediaries to source high‑quality carbon credit supply.
    • Evaluate projects across different methodologies, standards and geographies.
    • Support commercial due diligence and maintain awareness of project pipelines.

Ideal Candidate

  • 4+ years of experience in carbon markets, environmental commodities, energy trading, carbon project development or a related field.
  • Demonstrated exposure to voluntary carbon markets and project‑based carbon credits.
  • Familiarity with CORSIA or other compliance‑adjacent carbon markets is preferred.
  • Experience in commercial negotiation, origination or structured transactions.
  • Strong understanding of carbon credit project structures, methodologies and market dynamics.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience working with Article 6‑related markets or international carbon frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to structured offtake agreements or long‑term carbon procurement is highly desirable.

What we can offer you

  • Ability to leverage CFP Energy’s cross‑commodity platform to deliver broader, value‑added solutions to clients beyond the Voluntary Carbon Market, with opportunities to expand into additional markets across the business.
  • The opportunity to play a key role in the growth of CFP’s carbon trading and origination platform.
  • Direct exposure to global carbon markets and structured environmental transactions.
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial environment within a leading energy and environmental markets trading firm.
