Job Purpose
To maintain the integrity of the CFH Docmail network and endpoints, supporting the Lead Analysts with day-to-day duties across the Security, Network and Server & Storage domains.
You will be working alongside other technical analysts in the team.
You will be monitoring the current environment, reviewing current processes and recommending work that will contribute to the continuous improvement of the network and information security.
Reporting into the Group Head of IT Infrastructure, you will play an integral part in meeting the department’s service delivery standards, handling tickets, change requests and project work as assigned to you, which will include hardware builds and configuration, network, platform and security monitoring.
Objectives of this Role
- Diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure incidents.
- Monitor servers, network performance, and storage utilization to prevent system downtime.
- Play an active role in system patch management and business continuity testing
- Create and maintain network diagrams, asset inventories, and standard operating procedures.
- Provision virtual and physical servers and appliances, setting up user accounts as required.
- Creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation and system configurations.
Detail Tasks
- Triage alerts from monitoring platforms.
- Complete hardware builds, both servers and network appliances.
- Ensure escalations to the Group IT Infrastructure team from the Group Service Desk are dealt with promptly and accurately.
- Follow established internal processes and keep accurate and meaningful records of all work carried out across various internal platforms and systems.
- Support customers and colleagues with project work, supporting the delivery of solutions to both internal and external customers.
Critical Competencies
- This is not an entry level role and the suitable candidate will have experience in working with networking, server and storage (including hypervisor technologies) or IT Security technologies.
- Experience of adminstering Active Directory and Azure Identity (Entra ID).
- Knowledge of networking concepts and infrastructure technologies, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
- Have the ability to contribute technical expertise to projects and service enhancement initiatives.
- Have the ability to follow documented processes and procedures and to deliver work to documented standards.
Requirements
- Strong logical and methodical approach, especially under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Relevant education, training, or certifications in Information Technology.
- Abide by the rules of the Business Management Systems, which apply best practice control with respect to Information and Physical Security, Quality, Safety, Health and the Environment and follow the SOPs.
