Thanks to continued significant organic growth, we have an exciting opportunity to join one of the most established Professional Liability teams in London. After winning the ‘All Stars’ award at the inaugural CFC impact awards in 2025 and subsequently the ‘Team Excellence’ award in 2026, the team consistently exceeds expectations to deliver exceptional service and results. They are looking for a high performer to join CFC as they build the underwriting team of the future.
The team are a market leader in providing professional liability solutions for SME businesses, as well as a developing book of middle market and larger accounts. As a team of 22, they insure over 15,000 clients and consider over 50,000 submissions a year.
As one of the largest professional liability teams in London, who focus on protecting US based clients, this is a great opportunity to be exposed to an extensive variety of risks. Whilst professional liability is a core component of coverage, the team's innovative package policies include general liability, cyber and property insurance on one policy form, giving you the ability to gain experience you are unlikely to find elsewhere. Having six unique products, for a range of professional service firms from engineers to contractors to miscellaneous professional firms both in the traditional and emerging sectors, the opportunities to learn and develop are endless.
As a Senior Underwriter on the US Professions team, you will partner closely with the leadership team and set the standard for the wider underwriting group. You will be responsible for building a profitable portfolio while fostering strong, long‑term broker relationships to drive new business growth and renewal retention.
- Act as the senior technical referral point for complex risks and for less experienced underwriters.
- Underwrite larger and more complex new business and renewals.
- Proactively develop and seek out new business opportunities, building strong broker relationships (both face‑to‑face and over the phone).
- Act as a subject matter expert across the professional services suite, proactively identifying and disseminating insights on emerging legislation, claims trends, and evolving risk exposures.
- Coach and develop the team alongside other senior members, supporting the development and growth of underwriters.
We’re looking for a driven individual who strives to achieve high performance. You will enjoy working in a team environment and will be keen to both continue developing your skill set and share experience with junior members of the team. You will have underwriting or broking experience in a professional liability (E&O) role, preferably with multi-class underwriting exposure. Experience with insuring US business would be an advantage but not a necessity; we will consider people with a keen interest to get experience in this market too.
You will have a sales focus, but also be proficient in problem solving. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail will help drive data lead decisions. You should have a strong work ethic and be comfortable communicating and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate should be driven to join an ambitious, high performance team and want to be part of the underwriting team of the future, today.
