Thanks to our continued growth, the Life Science team at CFC is looking to welcome a new Underwriter with experience in either Life Science or Property & Casualty.
Our specialist Underwriters offer three tailored policy packages designed for traditional Life Sciences, the digital Medtech sector and Dietary Supplements. Innovation is at the heart of what we do and our Life Science team exemplifies this by continuously evolving our products to address the unique risks faced by providers in this space.
With a focus on risks domiciled in our core territories — the UK, Australia, Canada, and Israel — this is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional eager to join a fast-growing, forward-thinking organisation.
About the role
As an Underwriter on our Life Science team, you’ll work closely with the Life Science Practice Leader and Team Leader in all aspects of underwriting, including new business and renewal underwriting, responding to broker queries and driving business development through developing your own broker relationships.
You will consider Life Science providers property and liability insurance needs from a holistic perspective by writing multiple classes of insurance, alongside driving business development initiatives and effectively contributing to wider team projects.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and manage enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner, producing new and renewals quotations within agreed SLAs and authority parameters;
- Develop and seek out new business opportunities, building strong broker relationships (both face-to-face and over phone).
- Support with the creation or maintenance of underwriting policies;
- Maintain and produce regular underwriting reports around the portfolio as required;
- Explain the features, advantages and benefits of Life Science insurance products, coverage enhancements, support product launches and raise awareness of new and existing products;
- Prepare and deliver internal and external events/presentations on CFC products, key trends and emerging exposures;
- Research with a mind to develop subject-matter expertise and investigate relevant legislation/regulation/compliance issues within our target markets;
- Contribute to team projects (e.g. enhancements to product offering, launch of new products, systems, policies and processes etc.)
About you
We’re looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who are keen to develop their skills and experience. You’ll have an appetite to develop the life science book through broker relationships, communicating daily with both internal and external stakeholders meaning communication skills are of importance as well as showing an ability to lead with certain projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in underwriting or broking preferably within Life Science or Property & Casualty with an interest in develop your underwriting career within Life Science.
