As an Assistant Underwriter you’ll work closely with the Healthcare team in all aspects of underwriting, including new business and renewal underwriting, responding to broker queries and supporting business development through developing your own broker relationships over time.

With support from the team, you will consider healthcare providers' liability insurance needs from a holistic perspective by writing multiple classes of insurance, alongside supporting the team with business development and effectively contributing to wider team projects.

  • Respond to broker enquiries professionally and promptly, producing new and renewal quotations within agreed SLAs and authority limits.
  • Own and maintain your personal pipeline of healthcare renewals and prospects.
  • Support the team in identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Build strong broker relationships to grow a profitable healthcare portfolio.
  • Produce regular underwriting reports and portfolio insights.
  • Clearly explain product features, coverage enhancements, and support product launches.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering presentations and events, both internally and externally.
  • Proactively manage accounts with open claims, working closely with Claims and Underwriting teams to ensure timely resolution.

Experience within underwriting or broking is desirable, combined with a keen interest in the healthcare sector and a willingness to develop your skills and knowledge through working alongside an experienced and supportive team. You’ll be motivated, determined and eager to succeed. With strong analytical ability, logical thinking and critical problem-solving skills, paired with excellent numeracy and clear and confident communication. Confident and self-driven, you enjoy working to deadlines and achieving results. You’re comfortable using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and above all, you thrive in a team environment where collaboration leads to shared success.
