P&GSS (Proactive & Global Security Services) is scaling its technology and product capabilities in 2026, investing in customer experience, risk intelligence, cloud modernisation and data-driven innovation. We are looking for a Solution Architect to play a key role in shaping and delivering this next phase of growth. You will work across a broad and evolving technology landscape, supporting approximately 8 delivery teams focused on capabilities such as Asset Discovery, Risk Intelligence, Data Standardisation, Customer Experience and Mobile Applications.
In practice, this means partnering closely with Product and Engineering to provide architectural clarity across multiple concurrent initiatives — helping teams move quickly while maintaining consistency, quality and security. This role sits within a small but experienced Architecture team, but is strongly aligned with one of our most exciting business units, reporting directly to the Principal Architect for Proactive & Global Security Services.
This structure is intentional as it ensures close alignment between day‑to‑day solution design and longer‑term architectural direction. You will work in close partnership with the Principal Architect — who sets the strategic roadmap, standards and cross‑business alignment — while you focus on embedding those principles into delivery. Together, this creates a strong balance between pragmatic, hands‑on architecture and coherent long‑term design, avoiding bottlenecks while maintaining high standards across the platform.
Crucially, this role offers a high degree of autonomy. You will own solution design across your teams, make architectural decisions, and influence how services are built and evolve. At the same time, you will be well‑supported — with access to clear architectural direction, patterns, and an experienced Principal Architect to collaborate with on more complex or strategic challenges. This balance means you won’t be working in isolation, but you will have the space and trust to lead, shape outcomes, and make a tangible impact.
This is a hands‑on architecture role in a fast‑moving environment — ideal for someone who enjoys being close to delivery while influencing how a modern, scalable technology estate evolves. You will help ensure that as we scale, we do so with consistency, resilience and strong governance — enabling rapid innovation without compromising quality or security.
About the role
- Lead Solution Design
- Own solution architecture for initiatives and major features across multiple delivery teams
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Engineering Leads to shape high‑quality solution options
- Translate complex business requirements into clear, scalable and secure technical designs
- Produce architectural artefacts including solution diagrams, decision records and integration designs
- Validate design feasibility through proof of concept where required
- Enable Delivery at Pace
- Participate in discovery, planning and refinement to provide architectural direction
- Reduce ambiguity and technical risk early in the delivery lifecycle
- Identify and mitigate architectural debt before it materialises
- Support teams in implementing agreed solution designs
- Embed Standards & Governance
- Ensure alignment with enterprise standards across cloud, security, integration and data
- Champion secure‑by‑design and data governance principles
- Contribute to reusable patterns, reference architectures and best practices
- Support architectural governance processes through design review and oversight
- Support Platform & Capability Evolution
- Contribute to cloud platform maturity and modern architectural practices
- Improve integration consistency and reusability across systems
- Support data platform evolution to strengthen pricing and risk intelligence capabilities
About you
- Strong end‑to‑end solution design experience in complex, distributed environments
- Deep understanding of modern architectural patterns, including API‑first, event‑driven and cloud‑native approaches
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills across both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Ability to balance pragmatic delivery with long‑term scalability and architectural quality
- Confident decision‑maker, able to clearly articulate options and trade‑offs
- Hands‑on mindset with the ability to validate architectural assumptions in practice
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect or senior technical leader
- Strong experience with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure
- Track record of designing secure, resilient and scalable systems
- Familiarity with data modelling, integration architecture and governance controls
- Experience working in regulated or compliance‑driven environments (desirable)
