We have an exciting new opportunity for someone keen to develop their underwriting career to join our Technology team, who are recognised within the market as being a highly specialised and expert team of technology underwriters. Our technology team is at the forefront of underwriting SME emerging technology risks in Canada and has enjoyed rapid growth over the last few years, and as a result we are looking for someone to join our successful team as we develop opportunities to branch out into writing new business.
We offer a cross-class package solution including E&O, Cyber, General Liability and Property – giving you broad exposure. We are consistently exploring developing technology and looking for new ways to provide first class support to the world’s most creative and disruptive new businesses, whilst understanding how quickly the risks facing these emerging industries can evolve.
About the role
As an Assistant Underwriter you’ll learn to develop and underwrite profitable business. You’ll support the team across a variety of areas, including:
- Supporting new business development and underwriting renewal accounts.
- Seeking out and proactively developing new broker relationships.
- Managing key partner relationships.
- Considering submissions for technology businesses domiciled in Canada and offering a cross-class package policy.
- Responding to and managing enquiries from brokers in a timely and professional manner.
- Producing new and renewal quotations within agreed SLAs and documenting underwriting rationale.
- Explaining the features, advantages and benefits of CFC’s Technology insurance products and coverage enhancements.
- Supporting product launches and raising awareness of new and existing products.
- Contributing to team projects (e.g. enhancements to product offering, launch of new products, systems, policies, and processes).
- Marketing capabilities through existing contacts and new relationships, and attending ad-hoc business trips in Canada as required.
About you
We are looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who can contribute to a fast-paced working environment and work within a high performance team. You will need to be sales and service focussed with experience within insurance either from an underwriting or broking background, confident and personable on the phone and in front of our customers, and able to demonstrate a hunger and aptitude to support growth within the team. You will be analytical with strong attention to detail but also able to reach conclusions quickly and make effective decisions. You will be expected to work at a high pace and intensity that underpins the successful framework of the CFC business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans.
