The Portfolio Investment Analyst (PIA) partners closely with Portfolio Managers and Traders to support the day‑to‑day implementation and management of investment portfolios. The role applies investment and portfolio analytics to support portfolio construction, implementation, and monitoring across Equity, Fixed Income, and/or Multi‑Asset strategies. The PIA plays a critical role in supporting the investment process and ensuring portfolios are managed in line with client objectives and investment guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Portfolio Managers and Traders on the day‑to‑day implementation and management of portfolios
- Apply portfolio and investment analytics to monitor exposures, risks, and portfolio characteristics
- Support portfolio modeling activities, including trade allocations, cash flow management, and exposure analysis
- Work with internal systems designed for portfolio management and trade modeling
- Monitor portfolio analytics and support the generation and execution of accurate orders through the trade cycle
- Coordinate with analysts, traders, compliance, legal, and other partners on portfolio and security transactions
- Provide analytical support to the investment process, including ad‑hoc analysis related to investment strategies
- Contribute to continuous improvement of portfolio implementation processes and controls
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Math, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant investment or financial services experience, with some experience in a similar analytical role (e.g., Portfolio Implementation, PM Assistant or Middle Office) and an interest in moving into this area
- Strong foundation in investment and portfolio management concepts
- Analytical mindset with the ability to apply quantitative concepts to practical portfolio problems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Expert in MS Excel and experienced using AI tools (e.g., Co‑Pilot)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with all areas of the business and confidently pitch ideas
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced investment environment, and flexibly when priorities require
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Ability to work with urgency while maintaining strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high‑quality, client‑focused outcomes with an investment‑oriented approach
Preferred
- Progress toward or completion of an MBA, MS in Finance, or CFA designation
- Prior experience supporting Equity or Multi‑Asset portfolios
- Experience working with portfolio management, analytics, or trading systems (e.g., Charles River)
- Coding skills in Python would be an advantage
Work Flexibility
This position is eligible for hybrid working up to one day per week (usually Friday).
