About the role: The Senior Director, Industry Engagement & Platforms will build and lead a global capability focused on professional communities, industry convening, and Society-enabled engagement. Reporting to the Head of Events / Audience Development, this role will design scalable engagement platforms that connect CFA Institute research, senior industry stakeholders, and targeted professional audiences across the global investment ecosystem. This is a strategic, externally facing leadership role focused on building influence, structure, and long‑term member and industry value.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build a global strategy for professional communities and engagement platforms, creating scalable and repeatable models for industry engagement
- Identify and convene senior stakeholders across the investment ecosystem, curating high‑value forums, roundtables, and peer networks around key themes
- Establish and grow targeted audience communities (e.g., private wealth, asset owners), ensuring relevance, quality, and influence
- Own and scale the Institute–Society co‑delivery model, defining standards, governance, and ways of working to enable consistent global execution
- Develop strategic partnerships with CFA Societies, industry bodies, and leading organisations such as financial media and global institutions
- Connect CFA Institute research with industry dialogue, creating feedback loops that inform future research and thought leadership
- Define success metrics across audience reach, engagement quality, and portfolio performance, ensuring sustainable and measurable impact
- Build and lead a new team from the ground up, starting with an initial Manager‑level hire
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience engaging and influencing senior stakeholders (C‑suite / CIO level) within the investment management industry or closely related ecosystems
- Experience convening senior audiences through forums, roundtables, or professional networks, with a clear understanding of how to bring together the right people around relevant themes
- Experience building or scaling professional communities, engagement platforms, or industry networks with defined audiences and purpose
- Strong understanding of how to translate thought leadership or industry themes into compelling engagement opportunities
- Experience developing structured external partnerships or delivery models (e.g., with associations, networks, or industry organisations)
- Demonstrated ability to build or shape teams and operate effectively in a player‑coach capacity
- Strong commercial and strategic awareness, including the ability to define success metrics and sustainable engagement models
Nice to have
- Familiarity with the investment management industry and key market themes
- Experience in financial journalism, industry platforms, or membership organisations
- Existing network across asset owners, private wealth, or institutional investors
- Familiarity with CFA Institute’s mission and the broader investment ecosystem

Compensation Expected salary range: US $170,000–$210,000 / UK £120,000–£135,000 per year. All salary ranges are subject to adjustment based on experience, education, and geographic location. Additional benefits include eligibility for an annual incentive bonus, a 12% employer contribution to a 401(k)/pension plan, and a comprehensive medical benefits package.
