CFA Institute is seeking a Director, Practice Analysis to operate at the intersection of real‑world investment practice and curriculum development. This is a strategic individual contributor role with enterprise impact, ensuring our credentials remain rigorous, globally relevant, and grounded in how investment professionals actually perform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine core Practice Analysis frameworks, including the Candidate Body of Knowledge.
  • Conduct structured, evidence‑based research into evolving investment practices across regions, asset classes, and market structures.
  • Develop and facilitate global advisory panels and subject‑matter expert working groups to capture practitioner insight at depth.
  • Synthesise complex industry input into clear, defensible curriculum recommendations.
  • Partner closely with Learning Content colleagues to ensure learning outcomes reflect how investment decisions are made in practice.
  • Engage with senior investment professionals across markets to test assumptions and validate emerging themes.
  • Support alignment across programmes and certificates, including areas such as private markets, private wealth, and emerging technologies in the investment process.

Qualifications

  • CFA Charterholder or have passed CFA Level III.
  • Significant experience as an investment industry practitioner with a demonstrated understanding of analyst and portfolio manager roles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the full investment management process, ideally across multiple asset classes.
  • Practical exposure across several CFA topic areas, with the ability to integrate insights across disciplines.
  • A genuinely global orientation, evidenced by international experience, cross‑border mandates, emerging markets exposure or multi‑region stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong research discipline and intellectual rigour, with the ability to move from practitioner insight to structured frameworks and written outputs.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging senior industry professionals.
  • Comfort operating autonomously within a globally distributed team across UK, US and APAC time zones.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as Excel, Python, R, SQL or major financial data platforms.
  • Experience contributing to industry thought leadership or professional education initiatives.
