The role of European Investment Grade Credit Analyst is to assist in the management of fixed income portfolios. You will undertake company research and make recommendations for the portfolio consistent with, and complementary to the team's investment process and strategy. In this role, you are responsible for helping the team achieve strong investment performance relative to both its peers and to its various benchmarks whilst also maintaining a high and extensive standard of portfolio analysis, data and information.

The RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do?

  • Monitor corporate credits for quarterly/semi-annual earnings announcements, news flow, rating changes etc. and the timely communication of any material effects on company valuations. Appropriate documentation will be kept for each credit.
  • Collaborate with an existing analyst team, and do own credit analysis to add value from security selection.
  • Input into determining cross region relative value and identifying opportunities to add value to all mandates that have the ability to allocate funds to Euro and Sterling investment grade securities.
  • Develop portfolio management reports that are used within the Corporate Bond group in making investment decisions.
  • Assist in monitoring a list of approved Money Market credits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with sell-side brokers, including analysts and traders.
  • Work closely with the Canadian investment grade and high yield team.
  • Assist with the marketing of funds through presentations, conference calls and quarterly performance write-ups.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Must-have: University degree or equivalent.
  • Solid economic reasoning with an emphasis on fundamental analysis of individual companies and the analysis of market sectors and market trends.
  • In depth knowledge of RBC Global Asset Management investment products and services.
  • Experience in evaluating corporate credits with emphasis on the European investment grade market.
  • Excellent working knowledge of programming language.
  • CFA charter holder or desire and demonstrated aptitude/background to pursue CFA designation.
  • Appropriate registration/certification with FCA.
  • Peer relationships/teamwork.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to work within a set of general principles and a culture of self-improvement.
  • Competent IT skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Thorough familiarity with the group’s investment policies, philosophy and strategies.
  • Good knowledge of regional and local financial markets and economic disciplines.
