Overview

Billingham Operator role at CF Industries. Plant Operator position within CF Fertilisers UK Limited, a CF Holdings subsidiary. The role focuses on overseeing the production process, operating key equipment, and ensuring products meet safety, quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Routine sampling/analysis
  • Assisting with the start-up and shutdown of plant following the appropriate training (planned or emergency shutdown)
  • Routine monitoring (readings) of plant and reporting faults
  • Preparing equipment for maintenance
  • Routine checks of safety equipment
  • Professional interaction with third parties as required by the job role
  • Compile Shift Log
  • Handover to incoming and outgoing shifts appropriately and rigorously
  • Complete plant weekly routines
  • Communicate plant issues to departmental management and raise work requests in the maintenance system as required
  • Maximise efficiency of plant
  • Carry out on-the-job risk assessments on a continuous basis
  • Provide assistance to local management and maintenance staff in non-routine circumstances (e.g. breakdowns)
  • Support delivery of departmental/site targets and KPIs
  • Review of existing operating instructions and procedures
  • On suitable demonstration of competency, progress to issuing safe work permits
  • When competent, training of other operators or new starters in the process roles

Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in a 24/7 operations environment
  • Practical knowledge of computerised operating systems and software packages including Delta V (DCS), Oracle and Microsoft Office Suite would be an advantage
  • Strong work ethic
  • A team player who can be counted on to provide support to colleagues
  • Ideally has previous chemical process plant experience and attainment of education standard, C&G Process Operations/Process Technology (0610) Level III or equivalent; further formal training or on-the-job experience will be looked on favourably
  • When initial training is successfully completed the candidate will progress up through the operational area over time subject to progression requirements
