We are looking for an active, reliable and enthusiastic Chef to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, have good knowledge of food preparation and hygiene standards, and be able to learn new dishes and preparation methods quickly.
Previous experience or a good understanding of Sri Lankan and/or Asian cuisine would be an advantage , as our menu focuses on authentic Sri Lankan flavours and Asian-style cooking techniques.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about food, works well as part of a team and can consistently maintain high standards of quality, cleanliness and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook dishes according to our recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
- Support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen during busy service periods
- Follow established recipes and quickly learn Sri Lankan and Asian cooking methods
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, food safety and kitchen cleanliness
- Follow correct procedures for food storage, temperature control, stock rotation and cross-contamination prevention
- Have a good understanding of allergen awareness and safe food handling
- Ensure food is prepared consistently and served to the required quality standard
- Work quickly and efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Assist with stock management and help minimise food waste Keep workstations, equipment and storage areas clean and organised
- Communicate effectively with other kitchen and front-of-house team members
- Follow company procedures and health and safety requirements at all times
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience working in a kitchen, restaurant or similar food environment is preferred
- Understanding or experience of Sri Lankan and/or Asian cuisine is highly preferred
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and busy kitchen
- Active, organised and able to work with a sense of urgency
- Quick learner who is willing to learn new recipes, ingredients and cooking techniques
- Good understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable, punctual and responsible
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation
