YOUR ROLE
Our team based in Ashby de la Zouch is looking for an Ocean Export Coordinator where you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth processing and delivery of ocean freight shipments, providing excellent customer service, and coordinating with international clients, shipping partners, and internal teams. This hybrid role will see you working Monday to Friday, either working 8am-4:30pm, 8:30-5pm or 07:30am to 4:00pm, dependant on preference.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Manage the end-to-end ocean export process, ensuring shipments are handled accurately and delivered on time.
- Coordinate bookings with shipping lines, co-loaders, and carriers, while liaising closely with customers, overseas agents, and internal teams to ensure all requirements are met.
- Prepare and manage export documentation, as well as submitting clear and accurate instructions for customs clearance in line with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor vessel schedules, proactively communicating any changes or delays to relevant stakeholders to maintain transparency and service levels.
- Ensure compliance with VGM (Verified Gross Mass) requirements, maintaining accurate shipment data throughout the process.
- Take ownership of cost control, supporting financial accuracy and job profitability.
- Identify and resolve issues proactively, ensuring smooth operations and delivering effective service recovery where needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, maintaining proactive communication, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Proven experience in export operations within an ocean freight environment, with a strong understanding of end-to-end processes across export, ocean, FCL and LCL shipments.
- Confidence in planning, coordinating, and monitoring ocean freight forwarding activities, ensuring shipments are managed efficiently and in line with customer and operational requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling you to build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong customer service focus is essential.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, allowing you to manage multiple shipments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy across documentation and systems.
- Comfortable using MS Office packages in your day-to-day work; experience with Cargowise would be an advantage.
- A proactive and dependable team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment, take ownership of your workload, and contribute to the overall success of the operation.
