We are currently recruiting for an experienced Production Process Engineer to support a major rolling stock overhaul and refurbishment programme based in Stratford, London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Production Process Engineer with a strong rolling stock or railway engineering background to join a busy engineering team delivering fleet overhaul, refurbishment and modification projects across operational rail assets.

We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and has previous experience developing production processes, work instructions and engineering documentation within a rail environment.

The Role

As a Production Process Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of rolling stock overhaul programmes by developing robust production processes and engineering documentation that enable safe, efficient and high-quality delivery. Working closely with production, engineering and project teams, you’ll play a key role in improving workflows, supporting engineering assurance and ensuring projects are delivered successfully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve production processes for rolling stock overhaul and refurbishment activities
  • Produce detailed work instructions, engineering procedures and process documentation
  • Create and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Support removal, refurbishment and refit activities across rolling stock fleets
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to optimise manufacturing and overhaul processes
  • Manage Engineering Concessions and support engineering assurance activities
  • Review project scope and develop practical production solutions
  • Support continuous improvement across engineering and production operations
  • Ensure all work complies with engineering standards and safety requirements

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience as a Production Process Engineer within the railway industry
  • Strong rolling stock, fleet maintenance, refurbishment or overhaul experience
  • Experience creating work instructions, engineering procedures and process documentation
  • Knowledge of production engineering and manufacturing workflows
  • Experience validating Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable Experience

  • Engineering assurance experience
  • Engineering concession or change management experience
  • Fleet overhaul or heavy maintenance programmes
  • Mechanical and electrical rolling stock systems
