Responsibilities
- Review, update and rationalise rail engineering standards, including standards mapping and hierarchy.
- Support standards reviews and briefings, including BS, EN and ISO standards.
- Trace standards and requirements through requirements management tools.
- Identify and resolve conflicting engineering standards, producing assurance arguments where required.
- Support the introduction of new technology into a safety-critical rail environment, particularly where standards are evolving or under development.
- Apply knowledge of data management and information security standards.
- Support standards auditing, compliance and assurance activity.
- Work collaboratively across engineering, operations and asset management teams.
- Act as a technical point of contact across multiple engineering initiatives and workstreams.
Skills and Experience
- Engineering background (rail, systems, asset, assurance or integration focused).
- Experience working with engineering standards in a safety-critical industry (rail, transport, aerospace, defence or similar).
- Understanding of railway asset management and the operate and maintain phase of the asset lifecycle.
- Knowledge of how systems and assets integrate to form a complete railway system.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working in complex, regulated engineering environments.
Working pattern
- Hybrid working arrangement.
- Central London office attendance two days per week (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
- During the first 12-16 weeks, higher office attendance is expected (up to 4-5 days per week).
- Occasional site visits across the rail network may be required.
