We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to support a major experimental engineering programme, with a focus on shutdown activities and ongoing system maintenance. This is a hands-on role working on complex, high-spec mechanical systems within a highly regulated and safety-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support planned shutdown activities, including preparation and execution of mechanical works
  • Carry out installation, maintenance, fault finding, and repair of mechanical systems
  • Work across systems including vacuum, cooling, pressurised, and electromagnetic equipment
  • Assist with large-scale installation programmes and specialist in-vessel works
  • Support operational efficiency through maintenance and intervention activities
  • Compile work packages, including safe systems of work and maintenance procedures
  • Document processes for installation, testing, and maintenance activities
  • Supervise mechanical fitters and junior personnel where required
  • Provide support to Plant Responsible Officers (PROs) and wider engineering teams
  • Maintain high safety standards, ensuring compliance with risk assessments and safety protocols
