Senior IT Specialist – Operations

London (Hybrid – Tue–Thu office, Mon & Fr WFH)

£50,000–£55,000 per annum + bonus

Certus Recruitment is pleased to be representing a fast‑moving media and events organisation in their search for a Senior IT Operations Specialist. Based near Tower Bridge, this vital role reports to the IT Director (US‑based) and will take full responsibility for managing IT operations, suppliers, and key system migrations across the business.

The opportunity

This is a broad but shallow operational position – ideal for someone commercially aware, organised, and comfortable overseeing multiple service providers and business stakeholders rather than working hands‑on technically. The successful candidate will oversee a range of activities from infrastructure and security management to system migrations and telecoms/vendor contract renewal.

What you’ll do

  • Take full responsibility for IT operational delivery across the UK business.
  • Manage supplier relationships – including infrastructure partners, database providers, and telecoms vendors – ensuring accountability, quality, and value.
  • Oversee ongoing migrations from legacy systems (including Access‑based databases) to cloud or Salesforce‑based solutions.
  • Coordinate projects with internal and external technical teams to deliver on agreed outcomes.
  • Understand departmental requirements and use cases, translating them into technical priorities with the right balance of business value and practicality.
  • Integrate with internal teams to support 30+ annual events and media activity, aligning systems and processes for maximum reliability.
  • Maintain oversight of IT service performance, data security, user access controls, and vendor compliance.
  • Provide commercial input on IT‑related procurement and contract renewals, ensuring strategic fit and cost efficiency.

What you bring

  • Strong operational mindset with proven ability to manage suppliers, projects, and competing priorities.
  • Broad technical understanding (“wide and shallow” rather than deep specialist) across infrastructure, networking, databases, and security.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence in vendor management, project budgeting, and SLA evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to engage effectively across departments and with global stakeholders.
  • Experience in a multi‑system environment with exposure to transitions from legacy platforms to Salesforce or similar.

Reward, benefits and culture

Alongside a base salary of £50,000–£55,000 plus bonus, this role offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus study, volunteering and public duty leave.
  • Life assurance and income protection, with optional private medical, healthcare cash plan, and critical illness cover.
  • Pension scheme, eyecare support, Cycle to Work and season ticket loans.
  • LinkedIn Learning access, staff development support, and a wellbeing‑focused culture.
  • Access to Perkbox, an Employee Assistance Programme, and employee referral bonus scheme.

This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative, social, and forward‑looking company poised for digital transformation.
