Sales Manager – New Business£70,000 Basic + £45,000 Variable | £115,000 OTEBerkshire | Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office
Certus Recruitment is partnering with an established, growing B2B organisation to appoint an experienced New Business Sales Manager to strengthen the performance and development of an established sales team.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who knows how to get the best from salespeople. The foundations are there, but the business wants to create greater consistency across the team through stronger coaching, clearer expectations, better pipeline management and disciplined sales execution.
You’ll have the backing of an experienced senior commercial leadership team and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on how the sales function performs and develops.
The Role
- Translating revenue targets into clear activity, pipeline and conversion expectations
- Coaching individuals to improve discovery, questioning, objection handling and closing
- Running structured one‑to‑ones, pipeline reviews and forecasting
- Using call listening and live coaching to develop sales capability
- Identifying performance gaps and putting practical improvement plans in place
- Improving pipeline quality, qualification and opportunity progression
- Embedding greater consistency in sales methodology and working practices
- Using CRM and performance data to identify issues and opportunities
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and development as the team evolves
- Recognising strong performance while addressing underperformance fairly and effectively
- Leading change and maintaining engagement as new approaches are introduced
This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage purely through dashboards. You’ll need to understand the numbers, but equally be comfortable getting close to the sales process, coaching real opportunities and helping people become better sellers.
About You
We’re looking for a proven B2B New Business sales leader with a strong background in people development and performance improvement.
- 5+ years’ B2B sales experience
- Proven experience managing a New Business sales team
- Evidence of improving activity, conversion, target attainment and individual performance
- Experience within a structured sales environment with established methodology and forecasting
- Strong hands‑on coaching and people development skills
- Experience successfully implementing change within a sales team
- Confidence handling both high performers and underperformance
- Strong analytical and CRM capability, ideally Salesforce or similar
- Formal management or leadership training
- The sales credibility to coach individuals on live calls and opportunities
- Experience leading and maintaining accountability within a hybrid team
What Success Looks Like
Your impact will be seen in stronger sales activity, better customer conversations, improved pipeline quality and, importantly, more consistent performance across the team.
You’ll be given the opportunity to understand the people and current sales operation before implementing improvements, with the expectation that these changes translate into measurable commercial results.
The Package
£70,000 basic salary with £45,000 variable at target, providing an OTE of £115,000, alongside a comprehensive benefits package and continued professional development.
The role is based in Berkshire with a hybrid working pattern of three days per week in the office.
