We are working with a welcoming and supportive primary school seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in a child’s educational journey. You will be providing individual support to help the pupil access learning, manage behaviour, and build confidence both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs
- Implement strategies from the pupil’s EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan)
- Support learning activities inside and outside the classroom
- Help manage behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
- Monitor and report on progress
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech & language needs)
- Is patient, resilient, and proactive
- Has strong communication skills
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Has experience in a school, care, or support setting (preferred)
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
- Knowledge of autism support strategies or behaviour management
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, etc.)
