Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support, maintain, and develop their critical network infrastructure. This role is essential in ensuring a secure, resilient, and high-performing technical environment that supports emergency operations 24/7. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and maintaining converged network solutions, supporting operational services, and contributing to infrastructure improvement projects across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain secure and resilient network infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide expert technical support on complex or escalated infrastructure issues.
  • Support day-to-day operational activities and project-based technical delivery.
  • Ensure systems and equipment remain fit for purpose, secure, and effectively utilised.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Service Improvement & Delivery

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of infrastructure services and operational processes.
  • Support the development of standardised technical methodologies and best practices.
  • Assist in planning, organising, and deploying technical resources effectively.
  • Contribute to departmental plans, service delivery objectives, and business improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present technical information and recommendations clearly to senior managers and Chief Officers.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with policies, legislation, and security standards, including data protection and organisational requirements.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and support issue resolution activities.
  • Support Health & Safety obligations and contribute to a safe working environment.

Project Support

  • Assist in the delivery of infrastructure and technical projects, including resource planning and implementation activities.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of operational and strategic technology initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience supporting and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies and infrastructure support principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within operational and project-driven environments.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant degree or significant ICT-related qualification.
  • Cisco CCNA certification (or equivalent experience in networking technologies).

Desirable

  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Vendor certifications from leading technology providers.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety experience.
