Product Leads are experts in SNAP products and services, pro-actively satisfying customer demand through the management and custodianship of the product roadmap. This is achieved through identifying, documenting and managing business requirements for software product development and business process change, ensuring backlog items are fit for purpose and have the requisite acceptance criteria associated to them. The role holder will also have responsibility for the completion of day-to-day SCRUM processes.

Product Leads ensure business user and customer requirements are described and communicated using the correct methodology and best practice for software development. This is achieved through standard techniques to elicit requirements including:

  • Leadership of workshops with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Devising and undertaking detailed interviews
  • Observing customer behaviour on site (truck parks)
  • Devising, building and administering online questionnaires

The role plays a key part in managing change for both internal and external customers by ensuring that business processes are impact assessed prior to product changes being implemented. Business processes will be adjusted in line with Lean practices to ensure the removal of non-value add activity and the measurement of change on business process to ensure the expected benefits are realised.

Training both internal and external customers in new processes and product features both on site and through virtual sessions is a critical part of this role and ensures changes are well understood and embedded throughout the end to end process. Clear articulation of tangible, non-tangible and dis-benefits relating to new business opportunities or product enhancements in the form of financial impact on the business case.

Defining appropriate measures for cost of business processes and then applying the concept of TIMWOOD (Transport, Inventory, Motion, Waiting, Over Production, Over Processing, Defects), to identify and remove waste from the SNAP eco-system. Success to be measured in proving the cost reduction resulting from applying Lean principles. Identify minimum viable product to ensure value creation early. Ensuring products and services adhere to applicable laws including GDPR and taxation. Be cost aware with regard to overhead, licenses and travel. Aligning product roadmap with commercial needs and wants.

Has quantifiable experience gained in an equivalent role, with experience in the logistics industry being advantageous. Is a strong communicator, comfortable in presenting complex ideas and concepts to a variety of audiences. Ability to make complex ideas and concepts relatable to stakeholders. An understanding of the theory of constraints would be an advantage but not essential. A willingness to learn the theory of constraints is essential.

Has a full, clean driving license in the designated country with the willingness to undertake extensive country-wide travel and overnight stays where required for the proper performance of the role to be carried out. Valid passport that allows travel across Europe and to the UK when required. A degree in a technology discipline or the equivalent would be advantageous but is not critical.

Has relevant experience eliciting requirements and recording those requirements in user story format. Has relevant experience in identifying and documenting business processes. Understands and can consistently apply the principles of Lean. Ability to lead workshops comprising all types of stakeholders and adjust material to the audience accordingly. Empathetic and team focused, puts the welfare of others ahead of outcome and personal ambition. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CRM, SharePoint and other relevant electronic digital portal proficiency.
