As a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer at Certara, you are part of a global, fast‑paced IT organization whose mission is to deliver capable, resilient, world‑class technology services to professional services, software development, and corporate business units. IT Infrastructure spans multiple technical disciplines—including data center, cloud, networking, security, systems, and endpoint technologies, working together to create a cohesive and integrated technology stack that supports global business growth.

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer serves as the technical owner of one or more core infrastructure platforms (including Citrix Cloud, Cisco Meraki, Azure Cloud Infrastructure, and Active Directory), ensuring operational excellence, scalability, and resiliency. This is a hands‑on, senior‑level engineering role responsible for designing, maintaining, and optimizing infrastructure services in a hybrid and cloud‑forward environment. Daily responsibilities include developing and maintaining operating procedures, executing maintenance routines, and providing Level 3 technical escalation support across supported technologies. The role also supports mentoring and knowledge development of global operations and service desk team members. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and how to build for scale in a regulated environment. In addition to technical execution, this role is responsible for creating documentation, operational controls, and governance processes that align with compliance frameworks including SOX, ISO 9001, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Operations Management
    • Administer and optimize: Citrix Cloud environments, Cisco Meraki networking infrastructure, Microsoft Azure cloud Infrastructure, Active Directory (on‑prem & hybrid).
    • Utilize monitoring, management, and capacity planning to ensure performance, availability, and reliability.
    • Identify and remediate recurring systemic issues to reduce repeat service desk incidents.
    • Provide Level 3 escalation support to Service Desk and Operations Engineers within defined SLAs.
    • Maintain and update detailed infrastructure design and operational documentation to support a distributed global team.
    • Ensure infrastructure adheres to security, compliance, and governance standards.
  • Research & Continuous Improvement
    • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness through technology.
    • Evaluate and recommend infrastructure enhancements, service improvements, or re‑architecture initiatives.
    • Contribute to infrastructure standardization, automation, and modernization strategies.
    • Proactively assess capacity, scalability, performance, and resiliency improvements.
  • Project Execution
    • Execute infrastructure initiatives and modernization projects using Agile methodologies.
    • Lead or participate in implementations across cloud, networking, virtualization, identity, and endpoint delivery platforms.
    • Support cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and platform consolidations.
    • Integrate DevOps and automation practices into infrastructure deployment and management workflows.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in IT operations or infrastructure engineering within medium-to-large enterprises.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting life sciences, professional services, and/or software development organizations.
  • Advanced experience with: Citrix Cloud, Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Azure Infrastructure (IaaS, networking, identity, storage), Active Directory (Hybrid AD, Group Policy, Azure AD / Entra ID).
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux Server OS in hybrid data center environments.
  • Strong experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (on‑prem and cloud).
  • SME-level experience with monitoring and incident management systems.
  • Experience across multiple vendor stacks including: Microsoft Azure Networking and telecommunications management experience required.
  • Exposure to DevOps tooling supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Scripting and automation experience in one or more languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with demonstrated experience documenting complex technical systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to resolve complex technical problems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross‑functional global teams.
