World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Software Team Leader on an initial 6 month contract.
Rate: £70.00 per hour
Location: Bristol
Hybrid / Remote working: Full time on site (occasional work from home day)
Contract: 37 Hours per week
Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at time and a quarter
Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)
Join our dynamic team as a hands-on Software Engineering Team Lead, where you'll spearhead a medium-sized team to deliver our Missile Control Software. In this fast-paced role, you'll drive the entire development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment, embracing a collaborative and adaptive mindset to thrive in our iterative environment.
The Software Team Leader will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions. Working closely with the Software Project Leader, they will orchestrate team activities to ensure successful delivery against programme objectives and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to a team of software developers, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with the Software Project Leader and stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure effective coordination among team members, ensuring tasks are assigned, and deadlines are met. Identify and communicate the technical risks and debt for the activity to the Software Project Leader.
- Collaboration and Communication: Facilitate effective communication among team members, stakeholders, and other cross-functional teams. Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Ensure the team follows software development best practices, quality assurance processes, and coding standards. Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization. Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Reporting & Metrics: Capture and communicate key data metrics for the development and report these into the Software Project Leader, suggesting improvements where appropriate using the data collected.
What we're looking for from you:
- Experience in the development of embedded software with C and C++ is essential, along with a knowledge of Real Time Operating Systems.
- Experience of Rhapsody UML or other model-driven development tools.
- Experience in testing software to requirements & ICDs on both host and target hardware.
- Experience of IBM Engineering Work Management / Rational Tool Concert tool.
- Team leading experience would be beneficial, as this role involves a blend of both engineering and leading engineers to deliver to projects.
- Proven can do and flexible approach; you'll enjoy solving technical problems that sometimes extend beyond the bounds of software.
- Excellent analytical and design ability, including review and critical analysis and generation of design documentation.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including SMEs, Systems Engineering & Test and Validation.
