We are looking for a Building Services Engineer to provide critical technical support across a diverse range of non-nuclear and nuclear facilities. From state-of-the-art new builds to the delicate refurbishment of heritage-listed dockyard structures, you will ensure our infrastructure is safe, compliant, and fit for the future of national defence.
The Role
This is a high-impact position sitting at the intersection of design, project engineering, and safety. You will work transparently with multidisciplinary teams to develop HVAC, electrical, and mechanical solutions that support key delivery projects. Whether you are conducting site investigations or drafting safety-case documentation, your focus will be on delivering a customer-first approach in an evolving, high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine conceptual and detailed designs for HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems using advanced CAD/BIM tools.
- Undertake feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments as projects move from inception to commissioning.
- Compile and peer-review technical reports, ensuring all modifications align with safety standards and nuclear regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with civil, structural, and process engineers, as well as nuclear safety experts, to ensure seamless system integration and compliance.
- Develop design mitigation strategies to address operational risks and maintain documentation supporting safety cases.
Experience Requirement
- A Degree (or equivalent) in Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
- Proven ability to develop requirement specifications and detailed engineering drawings for complex industrial layouts.
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools for accurate blueprinting and modeling.
- A logical yet creative problem-solver who can navigate ambiguous environments and changing project requirements.
- Experience within the Nuclear, MoD, Marine, or Defence sectors desirable.
- Familiarity with Nuclear License Conditions, ONR standards, and Technical Assessment Guides.
- Knowledge of CIBSE, BS, and ISO standards relevant to safety-critical environments.
