Certain Advantage is partnering with a key client to recruit a Mechanical Handling Engineer. Youll support mechanical handling and building services projects across nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation of cranes, lifting equipment, and maintenance assets.
What will you be doing?
- Support the Mechanical Engineering Lead with design, maintenance, and modification of mechanical handling systems.
- Scope and deliver mechanical designs and upgrades across the full project lifecycle.
- Maintain technical documentation, drawings, and compliance records.
- Collaborate across disciplines during installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
- Provide technical input to risk assessments and progress reports.
A couple of things you should know:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (Masters or CEng preferred).
- 3+ years experience in a regulated industry (nuclear, defence, maritime, infrastructure, or oil & gas).
- Knowledge of cranes, lifting systems, and mechanical building services.
- Skilled in mechanical design, FEA, and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
During an interview, you may be asked about:
- Your experience of cranes/lifting equipment and crane operations, especially safety critical and safety related systems.
- Your knowledge of electrical/mechanical/hydraulic systems as typical to cranes and hauling equipment
- Knowledge of mechanical building services, including HVAC, compressed air, water systems and thermal/fluid systems
