A Junior Plant Fitter / Maintenance Technician position is available in Chesterfield, offering a salary between £28,000 and £35,000, along with specialist training and development, a clear pathway to senior fitter, van and tools provided, life assurance, pension, holiday purchase scheme, and other benefits.
This is a permanent, full-time position primarily based at the depot, working closely alongside the workshop team and senior fitters. We are looking for mechanical technicians, automotive mechanics, HGV fitters, or recent apprentices who want to kickstart a long-term career with a leading specialist engineering business.
The role involves:
- Routine servicing, basic mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance on workshop plant.
- Working across a broad mix of machinery, including small engines, compressors, track dumpers, excavators, hydraulic drills, and winches.
- Assisting senior fitters with basic fault diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Accompanying senior fitters on occasional site visits to gain hands-on field experience.
- Recording service and maintenance activity accurately.
We are open to candidates from various mechanical backgrounds, looking for individuals who can demonstrate:
- Practical mechanical experience (e.g., Automotive Mechanics, HGV Technicians, Agricultural Machinery, Plant, Quarry, or Factory Maintenance backgrounds).
- A recently completed NVQ Level 1/2 or apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline is desirable but not essential.
- A valid UK Driving Licence.
