Salary: Up to £38,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
We are partnering with a national organisation to recruit two Employee Relations Specialists to join their established and growing HR/ER function. This is a fully remote role offering exposure to a broad and varied ER workload across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
This opportunity would suit an experienced ER professional who enjoys managing complex casework, advising managers with confidence, and contributing to wider organisational change initiatives. You’ll work closely with senior HR colleagues and external employment law specialists, gaining valuable exposure to Employment Tribunal activity and strategic ER projects.
The Role
As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will act as a key advisor to line managers, providing clear, practical and legally robust guidance across the full range of employee relations matters. You’ll balance commercial priorities with fairness, consistency and compliance, helping to drive positive outcomes for both the business and its people.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing first-line and escalated ER advice to managers on complex and sensitive issues
- Managing ER cases end-to-end, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, wellbeing and conduct matters
- Supporting Employment Tribunal processes, including early conciliation, ET responses, witness statements, evidence preparation and hearing support
- Assisting with the drafting and negotiation of settlement agreements
- Contributing to organisational change activity such as restructures, redundancies, redeployment, TUPE and harmonisation programmes
- Working collaboratively with HR Business Partners and stakeholders across multiple business functions
- Reviewing, maintaining and updating HR policies and employee documentation to ensure legal compliance and best practice
- Analysing ER data to identify trends, mitigate risk and improve processes
- Promoting efficient, consistent and people-centred ER practices across the organisation
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who bring a confident, pragmatic and empathetic approach to employee relations. You’ll be comfortable working autonomously while remaining a strong team contributor.
You’ll demonstrate:
- Proven experience in an ER or HR role handling complex casework
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law (including Equality Act and Employment Rights Act), with exposure to Northern Ireland or ROI legislation being advantageous
- Confidence influencing and advising managers at all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience background:
- 2+ years’ ER specialist experience in a fast-paced sector
- OR 4+ years’ experience in a HR generalist role
Desirable
- CIPD qualification or currently studying
- Mediation training or accredited mediator status
- Experience supporting Employment Tribunal preparation or early conciliation
