Certain Advantage is hiring for a Quality Engineer based in Derby. This role is on a permanent basis and is primarily site-based, reporting directly to the Head of QHSE.
Are you a Quality Engineer with experience in the rail or heavy engineering sector, looking to join a dynamic, growing business, where you will play a key role in developing the Quality function, with opportunities for ongoing development? This is an excellent opportunity to step into a key role where you will add direct value to a highly successful business, during a key growth phase, with a focus on continuous improvement to strengthen the QHSE function.
The Company: We are working with a growing rail engineering services provider based in Derby. The business is focused on strengthening its QHSE capability to ensure quality and safety are never compromised for financial performance, protecting their reputation and long-term partnerships.
The Role: This role is for a Quality Engineer, with a background in Rail or Heavy Engineering. You will work closely with the Head of QHSE, as well as the engineering and operations teams to focus on reducing costs, improving customer satisfaction, and increasing efficiency by integrating quality into the project lifecycle, identifying and preventing defects early and providing visibility into quality data.
Day to Day:
- Conduct in-process inspections, final audits, and FAIR reviews across operational sites.
- Register, track, and manage internal non-conformities (NCRs) using 8D and other problem-solving techniques.
- Coach and train production teams to ensure the highest levels of quality are maintained.
- Facilitate the implementation of standards and procedures for testing the accuracy and reliability of products.
- Communicate quality assurance requirements clearly to sub-contractors and internal operations teams.
- Review project documentation to ensure all reports are completed accurately.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining quality control procedures and policies.
The Individual:
- Experience in the Rail industry is preferred; otherwise, a strong background in Heavy Engineering.
- Proficient in ISO 9001 standards.
- General auditing experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical engineering drawings and requirements.
