Certain Advantage are recruiting on behalf of our globally renowned automotive brand for a Data Privacy SME to work within their advisory team supporting the assessment of complex Product Engineering projects and technologies that handle personal data in line with the EU and UK Data Protection Legislation. This is a contract inside IR35 starting ASAP until 3rd March 2026 in Gaydon, Warwickshire.
The role will advise Engineering colleagues on legislative focused privacy requirements that their project must comply by identifying and articulating the following:
- High risk processing
- Complex data flows
- The role of third parties' handling data
- International data transfers
- Industry specific guidelines
- Data minimisation techniques
- Data subject rights adherence
- Security controls
This role will act as an SME within the Data Privacy Advisory team within Product Engineering to support the assessment of complex Product Engineering projects and technologies that handle personal data in line with the EU and UK Data Protection Legislation (EU/UK General Data Protection Act, GDPR). Such projects may include: in-vehicle infotainment features, cloud based processing, software development, mobile apps, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, and 'Connected Vehicle' products and services.
Essential skills:
- Demonstrable years proven experience working as a dedicated Privacy professional.
- Previous experience advising on technical/technology based processes e.g. Automotive, Telecommunications, Engineering, IT, Software Development.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- The ability to communicate complex legal arguments to Engineering colleagues.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Information and Security Management
- Knowledge of EDPB Guidelines, ePrivacy and PECR
- Proven experience of managing a heavy workload in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to problem solve.
Education Requirements:
- CIPP/E qualification
- Law degree or Qualified lawyer
